About the Festival

The World of Wine Festival is New Zealand's first ever showcase of purely international wines. Where usually these events focus in on the wines from New Zealand and Australia, The World of Wine Festival is a celebration of all of the great wines from around the world of wine - completing the story. We hope to be able to open your eyes to not just new producers and wineries but to grapes, regions, and styles.

There will be over 130 wines on the floor for you to taste from over 13 countries! Even more await you at the revolving wine bar and in the Master Classes.

Festival Layout

Your General Admission ticket will buy your way into the Tasting Hall. In the Tasting Hall, you will find over 130 wines from across the world to taste. All wines will be 'tastes' and your tickets gives you free range over all the great wines on show for the whole session. If you are wanting to have glass of something (or something non-alcoholic) you can wander over to the Revolving Wine Bar, where you will find a range of special wines not on the floor.

The Wines

The idea behind The World of Wine festival is to celebrate the story of wine by showcasing wines from all of the main wine producing regions in the world. There will be wines from 13 countries with countless grapes, styles, and regions thrown in the mix.

To be sure that you get the best out of all this tasting, we have thrown a Riedel Ouverture Wine Glass in with the ticket price (so you get to take home a world-class glass!).

The Revolving Wine Bar is a place for those that want to chill out and sit down, as well as picking up a glass of something truly fantastic to ponder over. The Wine Bar's list will be changing everyday to ensure we continue to show off a great range of special wines.

We've put together a list of the wineries that will be present on the day. Have a look.

Master Classes

The wine world is vast (and ever expanding) so we have got together a leading range of wine experts from across the globe to host a range of specialised masterclasses set around specific themes. These classes will give you the opportunity to really delve into special regions, styles, or grapes, and will cover themes like "New York: New Horizons" and "Georgia: The Birthplace of Wine, but not as we know it". In each masterclass you will get the opportunity to taste 6 wines on the theme. We have a line up of Masters of Wine (MWs), Master Sommeliers (MSs) and WSET Diploma holders (DWS) to host these tastings, so you can be sure that you are in the absolute best of (informed) hands.

This includes a very special Mas de Daumas Gassac Grand Vin Vertical Tasting.

Check out the list of Master Classes we are going to have here. And buy your tickets here.

Riedel Sensory Workshop

We are incredibly thrilled to be able to offer (on a first come, first served basis) the workshop of a lifetime. A Riedel Expert shall be walking you through a range of their specialised grape varietal-specific wine glasses - to show you off the beauty and science behind their brilliance. This workshop will be $80 and can only be bought as a 'General Admission + Master Class' ticket.

All other masterclasses are $25 but this is no ordinary Master Class. You will be using traditional wines and comparing different wine glasses so that you can see for yourself what a difference a glass makes. Let the non-believers gasp! The other reason why it is a bit more expensive is because all of the participants get to walk home with all of the glasses used valued at RRP $180!

Places are strictly limited to 30 spaces - get in quick!

Retail Sales

There shall be a pop-up wine store hosted by our principal sponsor: The Cellar Store. All of the wines found on the floor, at the Revolving Wine Bar, and in the Master Classes, as well as all of the Riedel glassware/decanters, will be able to be purchased at this pop-up store.

All orders will benefit from FREE SHIPPING within Auckland City, with 6-12 bottle purchases getting 5% OFF, and 12+ bottle purchases benefiting from 10% OFF.

For ease, all retail orders placed on the day shall be compiled across the many importer's wines on show, and sent out to you at home or work in the following days.

We have teamed up with the highly skilled culinary and catering team at AUT so that we can offer the best matched range of food to the wines on show.
